Pisiffik: Mentor Training for Young Employees
Developing mentor training programs for young retail employees.
Pisiffik launched mentoring training via blended learning with Activate LMS in Kalaallisut – flexible, culturally adapted and with a strong focus on professional and personal development.
Pisiffik: Mentor training for young employees

Pisiffik, Greenland's largest retail company, contacted us with a desire to develop a mentoring program for their young employees. The purpose was to train mentors among Pisiffik's experienced employees who could support and guide the young employees in their professional and personal development.
Blended learning to match needs
The training was designed as a blended learning process, where physical meetings, teaching via Teams and digital learning modules went hand in hand. This flexible approach was particularly important in Greenland, where large distances and the unpredictability of nature can make it challenging to meet physically. Pisiffik's efforts ensured that all elements were carefully integrated, giving the young employees a solid foundation for both their professional and personal development.
Our role in the project included:
- Sparring on didactics and content : We provided input into the structure of the mentoring program's learning process and advised on how the material could be adapted to the target group.
- Training in Articulate Rise : We taught Pisiffik's team how to use the Articulate Rise tool so they could develop and customize the e-learning modules themselves.
- Implementation and rollout: We delivered our learning management system, Activate LMS , which was translated into Kalaallisut (Greenlandic) to ensure ease of use for all participants. We also helped create users, send material links, and coordinate the rollout in Activate LMS so that it was in sync with the physical meetings.
The learning material was developed in both Greenlandic and Danish. We are proud to have contributed to strengthening both the linguistic and cultural framework for learning.
"The collaboration with Elearningspecialist has been crucial to our success, as we have never worked with e-learning before.
"I clearly felt that – in addition to professional expertise – there was also a genuine passion behind it. Sincerity and integrity have been the hallmarks of our collaboration."
Naasunnguaq Berthelsen, HR manager, Pisiffik.
A meaningful collaboration
During the project, we had a close and positive collaboration with Naasunnguaq Berthelsen, HR Manager at Pisiffik. We learned a lot about the unique conditions in Greenland, where the working and learning environment is influenced by nature. E-learning proved to be an invaluable solution that made it possible to complete the mentoring training despite geographical and logistical challenges.
Results and reflections
This project has been one of the most meaningful assignments we have worked on in a long time. Supporting young employees through strong mentorship is rewarding in itself, but doing it in a context where nature and culture play such a big role has made the assignment even more inspiring.
We are particularly proud that our Learning Management System, Activate LMS, is now available in Kalaallisut (Greenlandic), and that we have been able to contribute to strengthening learning and development in Greenland.
